Forum Players, a co-curricular theatrical organization, is an integral part of the Theatre Program at Genesee. All theatrical productions at the College are coordinated by the Forum Players and theatre majors are encouraged to become members.
The club presents several annual dramatic productions every academic year in conjunction with the theatre program. The club is also the originator of other dramatic/entertainment functions at the college, and is involved in fund raising campaigns throughout the year to finance field trips, and attend the annual Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in New York City.
In addition a scholarship, the Forum Player of the Year is awarded to a member of the Forum Players who, in their peers' eyes, has demonstrated great devotion to the club and has worked hard to further The Forum Players as a club. To become a member of the Forum Players, it is not necessary to be a theatre major; the club is open to all students at Genesee.
In recent years, the Forum Players have presented the adventurous play "Peter Pan" and the musical "Chicago" to sell-out crowds and rave reviews. In late 2009, the Genesee Center for the Arts at Genesee Community College Forum Players performance of “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow is Enuf”, was a featured show at the Theater Association of New York State Festival (TANYS) which won three awards; Best long production, Best choreography and Best Performance awards!
