Study Abroad: Ireland
Study Culture and Human Relations in Rural Ireland: May 31– June 14, 2016
Join Genesee Community College professors, Connie and Charley Boyd, on a two-week educational trip to the Heart of Ireland . Participants will stay in the town of Nenagh in County Tipperary–about 1 ½ hours from Galway to the west and Dublin to the east. Students will explore the area around Athlone and travel to such places as Trinity College, the Neolithic wonder of Newgrange, Belfast (and the Titanic Exhibition), The Giant's Causeway, Tlachtgha (where Halloween began), Bunratty Castle, the Cliffs of Moher, Blarney Castle and much more. We will study the art, history, and mythology of Ireland. Students will also learn some Irish language, dances, songs, and they will learn to play the Irish tin whistle.
Students will enroll in two courses in this study abroad trip.
Approximate Cost: $3500 Includes airfare, lodging, most meals, transportation, and entry fees. Tuition and passports are separate costs. Scholarships are available for GCC students.
