Scholarships Available For Local “Emerging Entrepreneurs”
Trump the Tough Economy with $500 Scholarship
A tough economy can mean great opportunities for entrepreneurs with great ideas. If you’ve ever dreamed of owning your own business or putting an innovative idea into the marketplace – now is the time! Take advantage of the WIRED Emerging Entrepreneurs (WEE) Scholarship Program to nurture your entrepreneurial spirit and explore business opportunities in any industry.
$500 WEE scholarships will be applied to the following courses throughout 2009 on a first come, first served basis. Please note application deadlines.
SUMMER 2009
- Business 111: Exploring Business Opportunities - Personal characteristics of an entrepreneur, investigation and identification of a business opportunity, and business criteria prior to start-up are presented as the basic foundation for entrepreneurial success.

Thursdays starting September 24th from 6:00 – 9:30 PM (12 weeks)
- Business 225: Entrepreneurship - A capstone course that studies the critical process of developing a bona fide business feasibility plan. Topics include concept development; management, legal and regulation issues, marketing research and penetration; pricing and financial perspectives.

What are Wired “Emerging Entrepreneurs” Scholarship Program Requirements?
You must be a resident of Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, or Wyoming Counties for the past six months and a United States citizen, national, refugee alien, or permanent resident alien.
How do I apply?
When applying for a Wired “Emerging Entrepreneur Program” scholarship:
- Students must meet residency requirements listed above
- Must apply to GCC
- Must complete and submit WEE Scholarship Application form (20 KB) including:
- Complete and submit the GCC Equity and Diversity Questionnaire
- Attach a one page statement sharing your potential entrepreneurial interest
- Submit one reference (faculty, business leader, religious leader and/or SBDC representative) using the recommendation form
- SEE APPLICATION DEADLINES FOR EACH CLASS LISTED ABOVE
