Route 92, looking north to south--This was the curve (top of picture) on which John was driving his Harley in the moment of his fatal accident, about 2 PM, September 14, 1982.
John had rounded the curve (was heading towards the viewer), when at about the 5th guardrail counted above the sign on the left, his bike suddenly edged off the road. John, off-balance and losing control, continued traveling along the edge until he fell, in the left lane, onto the road--near the bottom of this photograph. An occupant in the house visible at the top of the curve, heard the crash and stepped out to look. A man approaching in a truck in the right lane, stopped briefly, then drove to the woman and asked to call an ambulance, which she did quickly. As John lost consciousness, the Susquehanna River flowed off on his far right.
