The Eleventh Annual John Gardner Conference

The John Gardner Society and Genesee Community College invite you to attend The Eleventh Annual John Gardner Conference. The conference will provide scholars, teachers, writers, fans and other interested parties an opportunity to gather and exchange ideas about Gardner, his works, and approaches to teaching his works. In addition, Joel Gardner will show an hour’s worth of material from his video biography project.

 

Activities:
In addition to presentations and workshops (held in room T 102 starting on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.), attendees will have the opportunity to participate in any of the following events:

  • Visit the University of Rochester's John Gardner Special Collection
  • Take a Sunlight Dialogues tour of Batavia
  • Bid in a silent auction on items ranging from first editions to meals at some of the restaurants mentioned in The Sunlight Dialogues
  • View a display of John Napper's Sunlight Dialogues lithographs and of Gardner’s “Death and the Maiden”

 

Batavia - Gardner's Hometown:

  • 30 minutes from the Buffalo airport and 25 minutes from the Rochester airport
  • 45 minutes from Amtrak stations
  • Hundreds of motel rooms in Batavia
  • Pokadot and Miss Batavia Diner still open
