You should begin this process as soon as you begin your studies at GCC.
Select a School
Decide which 4-year college or university you want to transfer to. Visit those schools as soon as possible to make the best decision on transferring. Attend an open house or schedule an interview. Search for colleges that GCC has agreements with.
Select a Major
Decide which 4-year undergraduate bachelors major you want to graduate with.
Fill out College Applications
SUNY Colleges - Complete the SUNY Application online, or contact the Transfer Services Center for a hard copy. The application fee is waived for up to four SUNY colleges if you will have your degree by the time you transfer. SUNY Colleges usually will not require you to send a high school transcript.

Non-SUNY Public or Private Colleges - Contact their admissions department for information on how to apply to their school. Follow that institution's specific guidelines about the application process and any other material they may require.
Complete a Transcript Request from our Records Office for each college. There is a $5 fee per transcript. GCC mails your official transcript directly to the four-year college. Reminder: Be sure to have a copy of your final transcript (with degree posted) mailed at the end of your final semester at GCC, to the college you plan to attend.
If you have attended another college(s), write to them and request an official transcript be mailed to each of your college choices.
Request Immunization Records
Request an Interview / Attend an Open House
Contact the college(s) Admissions Office and request an interview or attend an Open House program. Although interviews are usually not required, they can be very beneficial to learn more about the college and the academic program that you are interested in.
Apply for Financial Assistance
Complete all federal and state financial aid forms if you are applying for financial assistance. There are also many scholarships available that may assist you.
