TRiO Upward Bound
As a college-prep program, the purpose of TRiO Upward Bound is to:
- Develop students' academic & professional skills
- Motivate students to attend and complete secondary education
- Encourage students to pursue and complete a post-secondary diploma
The Top Ten FREE Services TRiO Upward Bound offers during the school year, from September to June are:
1. Mentoring
2. Tutoring
3. Workshops and Seminars
4. Cultural Enrichment Activities
5. SAT/ACT Preparation Classes
6. College Search Guidance and Visits
7. Financial Aid Advisement
8. Career Exploration
9. Fee Waivers for College Applications and Entrance Exams
10. Transportation to Activities
TRiO Upward Bound provides a six-week summer enrichment program at Genesee Community College.
The summer session includes:
- Enrichment classes in math, science with a lab, composition, literature, foreign language and other electives
- Fun field trips to various cultural and educational events
- FREE Meals
- FREE transportation to and from GCC and all activities
- Stipends available for attendance and participation
To qualify for the TRiO Upward Bound program you must:
- Have the DESIRE and POTENTIAL to attend college and SUCCEED!
- Be a high school student from the districts of Attica, Letchworth, Perry, or Warsaw
- Be from a family that meets the federal income guidelines
AND/OR
- Be from a family where the custodial parent does not have a four year college degree
