‘Watercolor Landscapes’ to Be Displayed in the Lobby Art Gallery at Genesee Community College

Local artist, Victor Corey brings his talents to Genesee Community College’s Lobby Art Gallery with “Watercolor Landscapes,” large scale watercolor paintings that capture nature and the outdoors in beautiful detail. The “Watercolor Landscapes” exhibit will run October 15 through December 1, 2009.

Victor Corey is a Batavia native and has worked in the arts his entire life. He previously worked as a technical illustrator and has taken up painting as a hobby over the last few years. His exhibit in the Lobby Art Gallery is his first public showing and will consist of approximately 16 pieces. His works depict landscapes, various sportsmen themed panoramas, including fishing and hunting, as well as travel themed pieces from his travels throughout Germany.

“We’re pleased to have Victor’s inaugural showing at the Lobby Art Gallery,” Heather Jones, instructor of Fine Arts said. “Genesee Community College is a wonderful outlet for our community members to showcase their creative talents. Whether it’s a first time exhibitor, or a seasoned artist, Genesee welcomes an assortment of exhibitors to the gallery.”

Victor Corey’s Watercolor Landscapes Exhibit is free and open to the public. The Lobby Art Gallery is housed inside the Stuart Steiner Theatre at the Batavia Campus and is open during normal academic hours.

Forum Players - Student One Acts & Cabaret

The Genesee Center for the Arts will present the first annual STUDENT ONE ACTS & CABARET, a “night-club style”, intimate setting with seating on the stage vs. the usual auditorium seats.

“One Acts” are student-directed, followed by the Cabaret which is based on the works of Kander & Ebb including songs from “CHICAGO”, “Cabaret”, and “The World Goes Round”. This portion of the show is directed by Maryanne Arena.

CAST of One Acts: Anjelica Sistruck, Jaime Hicks, Alex Falu, Brianna Kruppenbacker, Richard Torres, Tyler Eldred, Robert Reiss and Johnny Dow

CAST of Cabaret: Kiley Conklin, Anjelica Sistrunk, Brianna Kruppenbacher, Richard Torres, Joanne Taheri, Sarah Dunlop, Jessica Francis, Sara Leonard, Kiara Davis, Samara Brown, Nikkia Travis and Nikole Marone

Performance dates scheduled for Thursday, November 12th, Friday, November 13th and Saturday, November 14th, all starting at 7:30PM.

General admission ticket prices: $8 for Adults and $5 for Students, Senior Citizens(+55) and GCC Faculty, and $3 for GCC Students with ID. Cash or checks only. Credit cards are not accepted.

Advanced tickets or reservations are strongly recommended, seating on the stage is limited. Club Meeting - Tour of the Gothic Revival Churches in Albion

Tour of the Gothic revival churches in Albion this Wednesday at 6:00 PM. All are welcome to attend and bring friends.

County Historian Bill Lattin will be guiding us through St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church and then on to the Unitarian Universalist church that features stained glass windows by Tiffany.. Both churches are located on Park Street, one to the West and one on the corner of Main Street, in Albion. Parking is available behind the County Court House, on Park Street.

The tour will last about 85 minutes and bundle up since part of the tour is outside.
