Head Coach: Christie McGee-Ross

Head Coach Christie M McGee-Ross enters her first season at the helm for the Genesee Lady Cougars.
McGee-Ross came to Genesee after spending 11 seasons as an Assistant Coach and 1 as an Associate Head Coach for the Lady Purple Eagle of Niagara University. Over the course of her 12 years with the Purple Eagles McGee-Ross was responsible for but not limited to: guard and post play, scouting, recruiting student athletes, mentoring, conditioning, academic advisement , practice and game preparation , community service, meals, travel and whatever else was needed to help a Division I program run smoothly on a daily basis.
In her 12 season McGee-Ross coached numerous players who went on to play overseas professionally whom are ranked in the record books at Niagara. The teams McGee-Ross had a hand in finished in the Top 25 Academically 8 out of the 12 years she was at the institution.
Prior to Niagara University McGee-Ross was an Assistant Coach at the University at Buffalo for 4 years. During that time she helped lead the team to 3 seasons of 18 or more wins. While at Buffalo McGee-Ross had the opportunity to start her coaching career under a very successful coach that she respects a great deal.
McGee-Ross a Junior College Player herself helped lead Hilbert College in Hamburg, New York to 2 National Tournaments. In her 2 year career at Hilbert she was a member of numerous tournament all-star and regional teams. She also helped lead her teams to a 6th and 8th place finish in the national tournament. McGee-Ross was also a Junior College softball player for Hilbert and that team went on to an 8th place finish in the national tournament. After McGee-Ross’s short career at Hilbert she transferred to Virginia Polytech Institution where she was plagued by injuries.
A native of Elmira New York McGee-Ross earned an Associates’ Degree in Liberal Arts, from Hilbert College 89’, a Bachelors’ In Health and Human Services with a Concentration in Early Childhood from University at Buffalo ‘95 and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Niagara University ’02.
McGee was inducted into Elmira Free Academy High School Hall of Fame in 1994 and Hilbert College Hall of Fame in 1996.
McGee-Ross and husband, Michael and daughter Christie (6) reside in Cheektowaga.
