Softball Program Overview
The women’s softball team competes at the NJCAA Division III level and is a part of Region III and the Western New York Athletic Conference. The team plays more than 20 games between its fall and spring schedules.

2008 Spring Season Wrap-Up
The women's softball team completed one of their most successful seasons in the program's history, earning a trip to the Region III DIII Final Four Tournament and placing fourth. The team earned their spot in the Region III tournament by defeating Tompkins-Cortland C.C. on the road. The team finished with a 23-17 record, which was highlighted by a 13-game winning streak in the month of April.
Sophomore Kim Proper (Letchworth, NY) led the way for the Lady Cougars this season, as she earned several awards to finish her Genesee career. Proper was selected to the WNYAC first team, named the team's MVP, and was also named the Genesee Athletic Department's female athlete of the year. Proper led the team in both batting average (.365) and RBIs (29).
Freshman Laura Olcott (Ticonderoga, NY) was named to the Region III second team this season and was also nationally ranked No. 4 overall with a 1.69 ERA and No. 5 in strikeouts with 100. Freshman Julie Joyce (Pembroke, NY) was named to the Region III All-Tournament team. Joyce was nationally ranked No. 24 in stolen bases with 14.
Freshman Jerrica McAndrew (Ellicottville, NY) earned WNYAC second team honors, finishing the season second on the team with a .323 batting average and 16 RBIs. Sophomore Christina Vega (New York, NY) also earned WNYAC second team honors and was named to the Region III second team with a .274 batting average, 13 RBIs, and 20 runs scored.
