Men's Soccer Program Overview

The men's soccer team competes at the NJCAA Division III level. The Cougars are also part of the Western New York Athletic Conference. Many players have gone on to have successful academic and playing careers at both NCAA and NAIA four year schools. The team has won three WNYAC championships. Since 1993 the Cougars have placed six players on the NSCAA and NJCAA All-American Teams.

2007 Season Wrap-Up
The 2007 season was nothing short of memorable for the men’s soccer program at Genesee.  With an overall record of 13-7, the Cougars finished the regular season third in Division III, Region III and won the Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) championship. 

These outstanding team accomplishments are representative of the talented student-athletes within the program.  Midfielder Victor Gonzalez and striker Jorge Zapata, both from Venezuela, were named to the Division III, Region III first team and WNYAC first team.  Gonzalez ended the season nationally ranked No. 31 in scoring with ten goals and six assists; Zapata was nationally ranked No. 25 in scoring with thirteen goals and three assists.  Goalie Rondell Renwick (San Fernando, Trinidad and Tabago) is nationally ranked No. 13 in goaltending with 56 saves on the season.  Another player of note, Chris Simm (Brampton, ON, Canada), is nationally ranked No. 22 in scoring with thirteen goals and three assists.  Simm was also named to the Region III second team and WNYAC first team.  The following men’s soccer players earned WNYAC first team honors: Takahiro Okada (Fukuokaken, Japan) and Deverne Wallace (Siparia, Trinidad and Tabago).  Danny Nguyen (Mississauga, ON, Canada) earned second team WNYAC honors.
