    Men's Baseball: Fall 2009 - Coaching Staff

    Head Coach: Skip Sherman

Robert (Skip) Sherman has been active in the sport of baseball for over 18 years. He began coaching little league in the early 1990’s and continued through high school and college. From 1991 to 1995 Coach Sherman served as head baseball coach for Arkport High School in Arkport, New York. As head coach, he was responsible for all facets of the program including field preparation, fundraising, teaching basic fundamentals and utilizing effective game strategy. Through a wide range of creative techniques and relentless effort, he was able to develop a very successful program from one that was struggling and near extinction. During his tenure, he produced a winning record in four of his five years while leading his team to the sectional finals in his last season.

In 1997, Coach Sherman accepted the position as assistant baseball coach at Alfred State College. While he continued to work in all areas of the game, his primary responsibilities were with pitching and recruitment. Coach Sherman’s interest and ability as a recruiter was strengthened throughout this experience.

Coach Sherman joined Genesee in 2003 and has proven to be a huge asset to the Cougar’s baseball program. Coach Sherman led his team to the first conference title in 2005. The 2005 baseball team also broke many records including the most wins in a season. Coach Sherman plans to continue this success and intends to keep improving each year.

Coach Sherman attended Monroe Community College (86-88) and received a Bachelor’s degree from Empire State College (03) with an emphasis in Sport Management. He may be contacted at (585) 343-0055 x6454 or email: ssherman@genesee.edu
