    Men's Lacrosse: 2009 Season Wrap-up

The Genesee Community College Men's Lacrosse team finished their 2009 season with a record of 4 wins and 10 loses, but continued to make strides and develop the program in its third year in the NJCAA Region III lacrosse conference. The team showed their competitive nature in 2009, playing the competition much closer as they gained the respect of their league.

Don Knavel (West Seneca, NY) earned GCC's Scholar Athlete Award at the conclusion of the 2009 school year, after showing exceptional work in the classroom and on the playing field. Cody Brawdy (Angola, NY) earned the 2009 Coaches Award after an outstanding year in net for the Cougars. Brawdy is ranked ninth nationally for his 205 saves this season and currently owns the record for most saves in a career at GCC, with 491. Brawdy also earned a spot on the 2nd team All-WNYAC. Also earning spots on the All-WNYAC team were Cory Blackburn (Hilton, NY) (1st team) who tallied 34 goals and 49 points in 2009 and Loyld Chrysler (Wheatfield, NY) (2nd team) who led the Cougar attack with 39 goals on the season.

With the returnees we have coming back and our new freshmen class, Coaches Dave Hoover and Derek Hoover feel the lacrosse team should make major strides towards achieving it's goal of regularly competing in the Region III Championships each year.
