GCC Baseball Stand Out Drafted by the Cincinnati Reds

2009 GCC graduate Chris Page was picked up by the Cincinnati Reds in the 50th, and final round, of this year’s Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. The former Cougar stand out was the 1,499th player taken of a total 1,521 players drafted. Page led the Cougars in most aspects of the game this season, finishing the year with 52 hits, including four home runs and 34 RBIs, to help the team to a 30-11 record. Page currently holds the career and individual season records for the most RBIs, doubles and homeruns at GCC. At the end of the 2009 school year, Page was named GCC’s Male Athlete of the Year for his success on and off the field. This award is presented to the student-athlete who has exhibited exceptional character, leadership, and athletic achievement throughout their career at GCC. Page was nominated as an All-American following the 2009 season and was named to 1st team All Region. He ranked 22nd in the nation and finished the 2009 season with a .456 batting average.
