Training Injuries

Injuries, aches and pains could be an unfortunate part of exercise and conditioning. The Frustration develops as pain limits one from exercising at the level he/she wants. The most common injuries occurring from training are muscle strains, shin splints, tendonitis, and IT Band Friction Syndrome ("runner's knee"). However, many of the injuries achieved from exercise can be prevented.

Here are some of the more common causes of training injuries:

  1. Improper stretching.
  2. Improper warm-up.
  3. Poor lifting technique.
  4. Poor training habits/overtraining.
  5. Improper fitted or inappropriate footwear.
  6. Change in running surfaces.
  7. Structural abnormalities of the body (arch problems, abnormal or excessive curvature of the spine, leg length discrepancy…etc)
