3 Catalog Description: An immersion course held in Costa Rica. Students travel to the Central American rain forest for an introduction to its biodiversity, neighboring environments that the forests impact, and aspects of forest destruction. Topics include different aspects of ethnobotany, elementary botany, ecology, and earth science. Open to all students. Does not fulfill science requirements for science majors. Spring only. Prerequisite: Students should be in good health and be reasonably physically fit. Students must enroll separately with the tour company and pay all trip expenses prior to travel. Lecture: 2 hrs.
