OFT102 - Intermediate Keyboarding
Credits: 3

Catalog Description: Increases keyboarding techniques. Includes production using word processing software of two-page letters, two-page reports, two-page memos, tables, envelopes, and mail merges. Requires a minimum level of proficiency of 45 words per minute (wpm). Prerequisite: OFT101.

Lecture: 3 hrs.
Lab: 0 hrs.

Student Performance Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge and skills:

1.Key approximately 45 wpm for five minutes with 96% accuracy on at least three timed writings.

2.Demonstrate the ability to format two-page letters, memos, reports and advanced tables with 96% accuracy on semester activities.

3.Demonstrate the ability to format financial documents, specialized documents with graphics, and itineraries with 96% accuracy on semester assignments.

4.Demonstrate the ability to format minutes and agendas with 96% accuracy on semester assignments.

5.Demonstrate intermediate computer skills using word processing software such as templates, styles, graphics, and mail merge by scoring a minimum of 70% on unit tests.***

Three timings at a minimum speed of 45 wpm for 5 minutes/5 errors maximum

Test 6
Three timings at a minimum speed of 50 wpm for 5 minutes/5 errors maximum

Grading:
Your final average will be computed as follows:
Test 4 25% *Speed average
Test 5 25% 3 timings at 55 wpm/5 or less errors = 95%
Test 6 25% 3 timings at 50 - 54 wpm/5 or less errors = 85%
Speed Average* 25% 3 timings at 45 - 49 wpm/5 or less errors = 75%

Students must pass at least 3 timings at 45 wpm with 5 or less errors. Because of the sequential nature of this course, IP's are not given.
