Forum Players
Forum Players,a co-curricular theatrical organization, is an integral part of the Theatre Program at Genesee. All theatrical productions at the College are coordinated by The Forum Players and theatre majors are encouraged to become members.
The club presents four annual dramatic productions every academic
year in conjunction with the theatre program. The club is also the originator
of other dramatic/entertainment functions at the college, and is involved in
fund raising campaigns to finance field trips, attend the annual KC/ACTF (Kennedy
Center American College Theatre Festival, and the Forum Player of the Year Award.
The Forum Player of the Year Award is a scholarship awarded to a member of the
Forum Players who, in their peers' eyes, has demonstrated great devotion to
the club and has worked hard to further The Forum Players as a club. To become
a member of the Forum Players, it is not necessary to be a theatre major. The
club is open to all students at Genesee.
In recent years, the Forum Players presented "Dark of the Moon", "Agnes of God" and "A Christmas Carol" and were recommended for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (ACTF). A "respondent" from ACTF attends one of the performances and shares with cast, crew and director, their response to the production. A course, Festival Theatre, is also available to students who want to attend and receive credit. Also, as part of the process, "Irene Ryan" nominees may be chosen from the cast to appear in competition at the festival.
