Message from the Associate Dean Patricia Chaya

Picture: Patricia Chaya - Associate DeanI am very excited about all the opportunities available to students in Wyoming County! The staff and I are working diligently to make it easy for YOU to manage your education options in a way that Genesee Community College can be part of your life. Whether you are interested in a future career choice, upgrading your job skills, gaining new insights, or pursuing an Associate's Degree, we can get you started! We offer both credit and personal enrichment courses that can definitely make you more marketable in the world today. Courses such as computer applications, and business and life skills will also make you more indispensable at your present job.

If a four-year degree is your ultimate goal, consider our quality classes for the first two years, and then take advantage of our "no-hassle" direct transfer programs to over 100 participating schools. This may ultimately save you thousands of dollars, and we hope you will be pleased with our service-oriented philosophy when working with students. We will help ease you into your classes, and accommodate your academic needs if at all possible. We also expect (and encourage!) questions and frequent meetings for advisement.

For anyone wishing employment after completion of a two-year curriculum, GCC has many career programs such as Business Administration and Computer Networking, and we also offer one-year certificate programs like Accounting and Early Childhood. Please don't hesitate to contact us for more information on these and other programs.

Our staff, faculty and students are also enthusiastic about the future of the Warsaw Campus Center, as we have grown into our location next to the YMCA on Linwood Avenue! You will still continue to find our "one-stop service" which allows you to submit admission forms, take placement tests, receive academic advisement, register for classes, pay your bills and order your books without having to travel to the main campus. We also can help you with tutoring, information on workstudy opportunities, access to materials from the main campus library, and our colleague Cheryl Clark can help you fill out paperwork for financial aid. She is our Education Opportunity Center Outreach Specialist, and her office is located at the Department of Labor in Warsaw.

Being a student at Genesee Community College may be the best decision you ever made. We are here to help you succeed, and we invite you to give us a call at (585) 786-3010 for a tour of our facility, or for some information. I hope to see you soon!
