What are the Dansville Campus Center's hours of operation?
Monday through Thursday we are open from 8:30 am to 9 pm;
Fridays from 8:30 am to 4:30 PM; and Saturdays from 9 am to 12 noon. Hours change
during the summer session as well as between semesters.
What are the computer lab hours?
Lab hours are contingent on credit and non-credit course offerings.
Be sure to check the schedule posted outside of the lab for openings. The mini-lab
is usually open during the center's operation hours.
Do I need to have any special immunizations before I start
college?
Any student taking more than one course and born after January
1, 1957 is required to provide proof of immunization against Measles, Mumps
and Rubella (MMR). Additionally, effective Fall 2003 New York State Public Health
Law requires that all college and university students enrolled for at least
six (6) semester hours complete and return the Meningococcal Meningitis Vaccination
Response form.
What do I need to apply to Genesee Community College?
Where is the smoking area?
We ask that all smokers be courteous and smoke at the South end of the building. Smoking is not permitted in front of the main entrance.
The weather seems bad. How do I find out if my class is
going to be cancelled?
The campus center will announce any closings by 6:30 am for
day classes and 4:30 pm for evening classes by GCC web page, radio or television.
You can listen to the following FM stations: WVOR 100.5 Rochester, WKPQ 105.3
Hornell, or WDNY 93.9 Dansville. AM Stations include WHAM 1180 Rochester and
WDNY Dansville. You may also watch for closings on WOKR Rochester or WIVB Buffalo.
Please do not call the campus center to see if your class has been canceled.
How do I reach my instructor if I am unable to make or going
to be late for class or just want to leave a message?
Your instructor should provide ways of contacting him/her
in the syllabus. The Campus Center will NOT forward messages to your instructor.
I am unsure about my major, and have questions about course
registration. Who can I talk to?
The Dansville Campus Center currently has two academic advisors
available on-site. Feel free to stop and make an appointment with Jackie, Amy,
or Pete if you have any questions.
I need assistance filling out my financial aid forms. Who
do I ask for help?
Sue Scutella, Outreach Specialist for the Adult Educational
Opportunity Center is available by appointment to help you with assistance in
filing your financial aid forms. She can be reached at 585-589-5960 or KSScutella@genesee.edu.
How do I drop/add a class?
Forms are available at the office for dropping/ adding classes.
In some circumstances an instructor's signature is required, and there are deadlines.
See the Fees, Dates, Etc. Brochure located in the Center's
lobby for more details.
I need help with my classes; do you offer tutoring?
The Dansville Campus does offer free tutoring. If a tutor
is available for a particular subject, an appointment can easily be made. Each
student is eligible to receive three hours of tutoring per week per semester.If
you need help in specific subjects, see any staff member and we will do our
best to find you one. For tutoring availability, see our Tutoring Brochure in
the Center's lobby.
I am supposed to graduate at the end of the semester. What
am I supposed to do?
You will need to fill out a Diploma Request form at the beginning
of the semester. If you would like to participate in the graduation ceremony
you must fill out a separate form. These forms are located outside the main
office at the campus center.
I have a book left over from last year that I don't use.
How can I get rid of it?
At the very beginning and approximately two weeks before the
end of a semester the bookstore offers a book buy back period. Check with the
bookstore for specific dates and times by calling 345-6878. (ID is required.)
How do I get a student ID?
DCC will be taking student ID photos for two weeks, early
each semester. Watch for signs that announce exact dates. You can also obtain
a student ID anytime at Genesee Community College's Student Activities Office.
I'd like to get involved in Student Activities. Who do I
contact?
Amy Rigoni is the coordinator of the Dansville Campus Center's Student Activities group. If you are interested, stop and see Amy, email ALRigoni@genesee.edu, or attend one of the scheduled committee meetings (posted in the Center's lobby).
What are the benefits of online library?
The online library is an electronic database of information
about the library's holdings. The online library can be accessed at anytime
from any one of personal computers located in the computer lab and media resource
rooms at the Dansville Campus Center. The online library can even be accessed
by home via a computer and modem. Some articles are available on screen in full
text and can be printed out immediately. Others are available simply by filling
