What classes are being offered at Genesee Community College at Arcade?
We offer many credit courses which may be applied towards a degree from Genesee Community College.
What are the Arcade Campus Center's hours of operation?
Monday through Thursday we are open from 8:00 am to 9 pm; Fridays from 8:00 am to 4 PM; and Saturdays from 9 am to 12 noon. Hours change during the summer session as well as between semesters. Students are welcome to use the computer labs anytime a class is not in session. Check the schedule posted outside of the labs for openings.
How many students attend Genesee Community College at Arcade?
There are currently approximately 250 full and part-time students enrolled in credit courses here at Arcade.
What are some reasons to attend Genesee Community College at Arcade?
The faculty here has a great reputation for their knowledge and their enjoyment of teaching. We have small classes where you can get to know other students who are friendly and helpful. You can get the whole college experience in a supportive atmosphere. The staff and faculty go the extra mile to help you succeed. Also, as long as you make good grades, Genesee Community College credit transfers very well to a wide range of 4 year colleges and universities. This is high quality education at an affordable price!

I am unsure about my major, and have questions about course registration. Who can I talk to?
The Arcade Campus currently has two academic advisors available on-site. Feel free to make an appointment with Anne Heale, or Mary Lyn Nutting.
How do I get my books?
Order forms are available at the front office. Book ordering is on a pre-order, pre-pay system. The books can be ordered and picked up right here at the Arcade Campus Center. All book transactions are between the Bookstore and the student. Contact the Bookstore directly for more information.
Do I need to have any special immunizations before I start college?
Any student taking more than one course and born after January 1, 1957 is required to provide proof of immunization against Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR). Additionally, effective Fall 2003 New York State Public Health Law requires that all college and university students enrolled for at least six (6) semester hours complete and return the Meningococcal Meningitis Vaccination Response form.
Are tutoring services available?
Free tutoring services are available at the campus center. If a tutor is available for a particular subject, an appointment can easily be made. Each student is eligible to receive three hours of tutoring per week per semester at no charge to the student.
Is there someone who can help me with financial aid?
Students desiring financial aid assistance can make an appointment to see the Wyoming County AEOC Coordinator, Deborah Titus right here at the campus center. Batavia staff will also be able to answer your financial aid questions. You can also investigate other sources via the web through the following links: Collegeboard, FastWeb or try Nerd World Media
What are some activities I can get involved in?
Each semester the Student Activities Committee (SAC) promotes fun through learning. The group composes activities that can be enjoyed with friends and family. Activities have ranged from holiday caroling, sporting and theater events, to workshops and guest speakers. Contact David Sink the SAC Advisor for more information. There are also many activities and clubs you can join through Genesee Community College's main campus in Batavia.
The weather seems bad. How do I find out if my class is going to be cancelled?
The campus center will announce any closings by 6:30 am for day classes and 4 pm for evening classes. See the Genesee home page for the latest closing information. You may also watch for closings on WOKR Rochester or WIVB Buffalo. Please do not call the campus center to see if your class has been canceled.
How do I reach my instructor if I am unable to attend class, going to be late for class, or just want to leave a message?
Your instructor will provide ways of contacting him/her in the syllabus. The Campus Center staff will not forward messages to your instructor.

Does the campus center have a library?
The on-line library is an electronic database of information about the library's holdings that can be accessed at anytime from any one of the computers located in the computer labs and media resource room at Arcade. The on-line library can even be accessed by home via a computer and modem. Some articles are available on screen in full text and can be printed out immediately. Others are available simply by filling out a request form. Visit the Alfred C. O'Connell library site for more information about what the Genesee Community College library has to offer.
Is there a public library that I can use to assist me with my studies?
Yes, the Arcade Public Library holds a number of reference books and provides some Internet access. Visit our Community Links page for links to several local public libraries. Machias Public Library, Springville Public Library, Ellicottville Public Library.
I am supposed to graduate at the end of the semester. What am I supposed to do?
You will need to fill out a Diploma Request form at the beginning of the semester. If you would like to participate in the graduation ceremony you must fill out a separate form.
I have a book left over from last year that I don't use. How can I get rid of it?
Approximately two weeks before the end of the semester the bookstore offers a book buy back period. Check with the bookstore for specific dates and times by calling 345-6878. (ID is required.)
How do I get a student ID?
Staff takes student ID photos for two weeks, early each semester. Watch for signs that announce exact dates. You can also obtain a student ID anytime at Genesee Community College's Student Activities Office.
Where can I park?
Parking is permitted where indicated. Evenings are crowded at Arcade so you are welcome to park in the parking lots adjacent to the center (Post Office and PCR/SallieMae) after 5:30 PM Avoid parking in handicapped spaces without a permit, and blocking fire lanes and exits or you will be eligible for a ticket.
I am looking for a part-time job while I am attending college. Can I get a job at the Center?
The center does offer work-study positions often. Certain financial aid requirements must be met. Contact Dr. DiNoto stop by the reception desk at the campus center for more details.
I have children. Does the center offer day care?
Unfortunately, the campus center does not have a day care facility available. However, there are many facilities located throughout Wyoming County.
