You are entering the world of high tech education, which is fitting for the high tech field of Respiratory Therapy. The classroom is one of the most modern in respiratory care education, utilizing computer technology, dvd and video tape capabilities, as well as video projection of class notes, internet sites, ventilator monitors, and PowerPoint presentations. The program occupies its own wing of the building and has a laboratory setup like a hospital room, with working piped in oxygen and compressed air. You will also notice the classroom design, which incorporates oxygen, air, and electric outlets for laboratory and computer applications.

The actual respiratory care lab is located through the door in the back of the classroom. Here we have beds set up as if it were an actual hospital room. The equipment includes very modern mechanical ventilators that are used in the area hospitals. Students spend many hours working with them before ever going into the clinical setting. Important aspects of your education are computer simulations for diagnostics as well as disease management. We have our own mini computer lab, so there are faculty members available should you have additional questions. Respiratory care faculty and support staff are always nearby, with their offices right between the classroom and the lab. In the last 2 years the program has acquired over $60,000 in equipment and is currently working on an educational grant to bring in an additional $35,000 in brand new mechanical ventilators.
